People say "Home is where the heart is..." and I couldn't agree more!

Being at MC since august 17th, I have yet to be home.. Ive seen my mom once, but it hardly seems to fill the void that I have. At home there seems to be this ultimate comfort, this extreme tranquility. Not only is it the city I was born and raised, not just the house where I lived most of my life, not even the fact that it is where my family is. I think it is because it is a place where I can go anywhere and feel safe, have familiarity, a place that i know and love. Home is not necessarily just a building on a slab with a roof, it is much more. It is a place that welcomes you with it familiar smells and sounds, the hallways and bedrooms, your pets and the food in your refrigerator, and most importantly the people inside, your family.

Family to me is the most vital thing in my life. Although I do not have a big immediate family, I still hold a lot of value in them. My mother, step-father, brothers, sister, nieces, and nephews are by far the most important things.

Seeing as I have yet to be home, after my game today I decided to hit the road and travel back to New Orleans, Louisiana and visit my building on a slab with a roof. Driving down I-20 to 55 then on to I-12 was the most exciting feeling Ive had in a long time! Knowing that at my house there would be food and familiar faces to welcome me. As I walked in it seems as nothing has changed.. merely the absence of my clothes in my room and all of my junk in the bath room. My dog was the first to greet me.. jumping rambunctiously, then my mom... we hugged and I don't know what it is, but seeing her always makes me cry. Then onto the little brother.. It seems as every time I see him he gets taller and taller... 16 years old and much taller than I ( myself standing at 6'1). Although I am not here everyday it still feels the same.. as though I never left. I guess that's the beauty of your "home", no matter how long you are away, the moment you return you feel as though you have never left. Amazing isn't it.

Well I am currently watching the LSU vs. MSU football game and am about to throw my computer at the television if they turn the ball over again! I guess it is time to spend with the family.. Have a good night everyone.. and GUEAX TIGERS!!!!!

My Weekend

The volleyball team is out of town this weekend. We are playing three games in our trip to Texas. The first is our rivals East Texas Baptist, then on to Longview Texas where we will play Letourneu, lastly we will travel to Marshall and play UT-Tyler. This should be a fun trip. Coach is letting us stop in Shreveport so we can get some shopping in.... that's always a big plus.

Moving on.. Ok well I have been thinking of things to write my academic essay on, and so far nothing really stands out. I guess I have to keep racking my brain a little more in order to find the thoughts that are obviously surrounded by cob webs! lol.

Has anyone ever read the twilight series by Stephanie Meyer? I am absolutely addicted! I can't ever put the book down long enough to do anything else. I mean its Wednesday night and I am packing for my trip and it just doesn't look like its going to get done!! Although it is a fairly lengthy book, I am more than sure it will be completed on this trip! The characters are so intriguing! The scenes are so real, ugh I love them! I cannot wait for the movie to come out! As soon as it hits theaters I will surely be there!! The second book is titled New Moon and I am anxious to complete this first one and move on to more action!

Well I need to pack, I have a paper to write, and some studying to do, and of course READ! lol. So I suppose I am running out of time and things to share... looks like an end to this weeks blog! Night everyone!!



p.s. Ok so I am a genius and accidentally chose save now instead of publish.. and I just realized this as I went to go check this things. WOW! that was a good move. Ok well I am publishing it now. Way to be late... btw we got home last night at 11 and I am exhausted.. we won 1 and lost 2. Shopping was great.. Games not so good. :-(.. Better luck next time ehh??

So Far...

Well, this week has been good. Early morning workouts are never fun, especially with an 8 o'clock class following, but other than that all is well.

We had two games today and won both. The first more exciting due to the fact we beat our biggest rivals.. Millsaps of course! Then on the Paul Quinn College, beating them quickly and easily. After spraining my MCL in my left knee three weeks ago (preseason), I finally got to play today! Very exciting!!! PLUS, My mom came! I think I had a heart attack when I finally saw her! Of course, we cried lol. After my games I have been spending my time catching up with my mom! Defiantly fun! I missed her so much, and have been very homesick these past few weeks. We went shopping and riding around seeing as we are not from here, and all of these places are new to us. My mom of course tried to be tour guide and help explain to me where shops and things were, only to go the wrong way. We went to dinner in Jackson and spent most of our time at the mall in Ridgeland..? I think.

All and all I can summarize my weekend so far as great! I am not looking forward to saying goodbye to my mom tomorrow though! :-(.., but i think we are going to lunch and a movie, not quite sure.

Well I have been up for quite some time, so it is to the bed for me!! Goodnight!

Getting to know me...

Well today we were given the assignment to start a blog... So I might as well introduce myself just to make this more perosnal.

I am a freshman a MC this year and am here to play volleyball. I am a right side hitter on our volleyball team, number 16, if you want to come to the games. I love playing and have played for 8 years now. Dedication is very imparrative when playing a college sport! We had a 5:45 work out this morning!! CRAZY!

A little background information I guess. I am from New Orleans, Lousisana and absolutely love it! I miss home very much and can't wait for the first oppurtunity to go back! Hurricane Katrina did effect me, but our city is resilant and we are doing great economically.

Things I enjoy doing include SLEEPING! When I have time that is. I text message way to much, thank goodness for unlimited! I am in love with my Iphone.. sometimes I think its my child! Umm i enjoy reading.. there is always time to pick up a new book. Swimming and being in the sun period is what I enjoy most about the summer... which is my favorite season. Winter is pretty.. good hair days lol... but then again back home it really doesn't even get that cold.. mmaaaayyybbbeee if we are lucky it will get past 45 degrees. I have never seen actual snow fall from the sky. Ice yes. Snowflakes haha not! Great part about living in the south!

I am a middle child, but kind of like the oldest.. my sister is 15 years older than me so I never really lived with her.. I also have an older half brother and a younger brother (2 years younger) and I would go to the end of the world for him! My mom is a commercial mortage lender and my step dad is an attorney, but has his own construction company.. (result of katrina) lol.
